I just joined the period 4 society and it is very different from the period 6 society. I have noticed that they are trying to get rally far by completing all of the tasks but they haven't even formed a foundation for the society. We are now startling form the beginning. As well I have noticed that there are like 4 main people that carry the load of the class and the rest don't incorporate their opinion. I haven't really found out who their leader is. There are groups that are more superior than the others that run the society just to emphasize on the previous
What: The ball triggered and elapse of motions. I just kept going and took us through history starting a long time ago. I went through the ice age, the stone age, the Egyptian age and many more so basically all of the eras. The ball knocked a bunch of things over and it just kept going in a chain reaction.
Why: All of these reactions happened because of the metal ball starting a chain reaction. It hit something and that something hit something else. Most of these reactions happened because of what a person made they pieced together all of the steps for it to work. So what: This video is trying to tell us that everything is connected it goes from one thing to another. A single action can impact everything around it. Thoughts on education before the video:
Public schools are there to make people smarter so that they accomplish more in life. In the olden days people who didn't go to school stayed at home or worked in the field they couldn't do a lot of the normal activities that are present today because they didn't know how to read or even write their name. Thoughts on education after the video: We all work separately and they grade us all separately when in the future we rely on collaboration of a group. We get grades in the form of a letter but what are we really going to be able to solve with a letter? We want to have the straight A’s however we might not even understand the things that we are learning and we just fake it so that we can get A’s. Colleges and jobs look at a persons grades and they judge them based on a letter. As well, public schools are like factories because we are all separated by grade based on our age and the intelligence we should have, so that is like our model number. Schools only allow a person to move ahead sometimes because of their abilities. Along side of this, kids with ADHD are taking lots of pills that just make them get through school not actually learn. In our society there are so many distractions that kids would much rather be focusing on then a person talking in the front of the room. The book that I chose to read over the breaks is called Vanished and it is written by Wil S. Hylton. I have only read the summary and so far the book sounds very interesting. It has 239 pages which is short enough to read the whole thing over two breaks and it is also long enough that it fits an honors class standards. The book was based in 1944 and is about 11 men going missing and the desperate acts to try and find them. I have never read a book like this so it caught my attention and for all that I read it sounds very fascinating.
In this book Hylton is using the stories form the men he interviewed and sleuthing around to find facts to make the story flow and make sense. He is a Writer for the New York Times Magazine so I am guessing that he does this often and his facts are real and can be supported. The novel is based on a true story spoken from the accounts of many people, just like the short story House on Loon Lake that we read. Many famous writers read this book and gave it a thumbs-up they said that is was "spellbinding"(Robert Kurson). They also said that "...you'll never think the same way again about... the heroic fliers who gave their lives fighting..." (Hampton Sides). All in all this book sounds like a page turner and I am excited to get to start reading it. Logos Commercial: Ethos Commercial: Pathos Commercial What do I want my audience to think about me?
I want my audience to know that I love soccer. Also that I care about how neat my webpage looks. How will my images get them to think that? My images show that I spend time with my team and all of my images are neatly put in collages and fit with my writing. What skill does this page demonstrate? This page demonstrates neat ness and how I am experimenting with the website to get different effects. It also shows that I hang with my soccer team in many different ways not just soccer. How will this skill get me a job or get me into college? Playing soccer could get me a scholarship to college and being able to make things look nice could get me a job at decorating. In the city that was drenched in trash and graffiti there was a group of kids. To waist time they usually took pictures with cameras that they built from parts they found in local garbage's. Their constant hang out spot usually was between the library and the grass park but today for some odd reason was different. Instead of taking pictures the group of kids were deciding to go on a little road trip but they had no idea were to.
Courtnay: I really want to go to New York. Time square and the good morning show are very exciting to go and look at! Jacksonay: I think that we should go on a dangerously, blood curdling bike ride instead of to some fancy city like New York. Courtnay: But New York has so many good photo options and... Samay: I agree with Jacksonay we shouldn't go into the city I mean we live in in one. We should go into the wilderness and try and survive on limited supplies that would be awesome. Anday: I have a brilliant idea! Courtnay/ Jacksonay/ Samay: What is it! Anday: We could go to all of the places that you guys are talking about! We could get in a car and drive across the country hitting every little stop! Courtnay: That's a fantabulous idea! Jacksonay: We can leave in the morning! How do I connect with the story?
I connect with the story because I have a lot of the social medias that are out there today and I do post on them, however I do not post inappropriate things. What are some questions I have about the story? How are colleges able to search me and find all of the things I have done on social media but when I search me I cant find anything? How do they know its me when there are other people with the same name as me? What are my predictions about the characters or plot? What might happen during the story or after the story? I predict that as our technology advances the information that shows up will also advance. As well, I think that people will begin to fight how much privacy we get. What is my Interpretation of the author’s opinion? What is the author trying to tell me about life? My interpretation is that the author is trying to warn us that no matter how private we think the things we do online are people will be able to find it and that could affect what college we get into what kind of job we get etcetera. How can I Extend the author’s opinion into my life? What lesson have I learned? I can extend the authors opinion into my life making sure that I check what I am posting before I post it because people can track it. I learned that even though our social website might say that our user is private that doesn't necessarily mean that it is. Can I Challenge the story? Do I disagree with the authors story? What is good or bad about the story? I can challenge the story by wondering if the privacy of our personal user and media is allowed to be violated by people that are looking to see if we are the best candidate for something based on a post. I agree with the authors opinion that everything can be searched and you should double check what you post before you post it.
